Why stay in Borik?
Borik is Zadar's main beach neighbourhood, a pine-shaded resort area about 4–5km northwest of the Old Town. It's been popular with Dalmatian families for decades, which means good infrastructure: clean beaches, beach bars, a pleasant promenade, and regular bus connections back to the centre.
Unlike Bibinje or Nin, you don't need a car. The bus to the Old Town runs frequently and takes 10–15 minutes. Borik works well for travellers who want a beach-focused stay without completely disconnecting from Zadar's history and nightlife.
Borik beach: what to expect
The main beach (Plaža Borik, sometimes called Punta Bajlo) is a mix of concrete platforms and pebble, with calm, shallow water that's perfect for children. Pine trees run right to the shoreline, providing shade that you won't get on Croatia's more exposed beaches. It gets busy in July–August but never reaches Dubrovnik-level crowding.
There's also a campsite and resort area at the northern end of Borik, which means good facilities (beach bars, restaurants, water sports rentals) without feeling like a purpose-built tourist trap.
Getting around from Borik
Bus line 8 connects Borik to Zadar's city centre. It runs regularly from early morning to late evening. The fare is around €1.60 on board. By bike (rental available nearby) the Old Town is a relaxed 20-minute ride along the coast. Bolt rides to the Old Town run about €5–7.
Best for
Families, beach-focused travellers, anyone who wants a quieter pace than the Old Town without sacrificing access to it. Also good for couples who want to combine beach days with Old Town evenings.

Studios from €40–60 shoulder season, €70–100 peak. 1-bedroom apartments around €60–90 shoulder. Prices in Borik run slightly higher than Bibinje but noticeably lower than the Old Town.
