Pine-fringed coves, crystal-clear turquoise water, and resort vibes — 12km north of Zadar and still surprisingly affordable.
Petrčane is where the Zadar Riviera really shines. The water here is exceptionally clear — you can see the bottom at 4 metres — and the coves are sheltered and beautiful. Pine trees line the coast, providing shade in peak season. It has a slightly upscale feel compared to the villages south of Zadar, but without the Dubrovnik price tags.
The Falkensteiner Resort complex is here (one of the biggest resort hotels on this part of the coast), but there are plenty of private apartments for much better value. It's a great choice if you want a proper beach holiday with modern amenities.
Beach lovers, couples looking for a romantic setting, families who want calm water and shade. Less suitable if you want to be in the thick of Zadar's city life.
Studios from €40–60 off-season, €65–110 shoulder, €110–170 peak. Seafront apartments carry a premium.
